Surfing Meets Slow-Living on Denmark’s Wild Coast

Vipp has added yet another guesthouse to its impressive collection; it’s situated on Denmark’s remote coast, in Thy National Park, in a former fisherman’s cottage now called Vipp Cold Hawaii — earned the nickname “Cold Hawaii” because of its waves and reputation as a seaside paradise for surfers.

The house was redesigned by the architectural studio Hahn Lavsen, with interiors by Julie Cloos Mølsgaard; it blends the region’s rural building traditions with minimalist Scandinavian influences, using a limited material palette — whitewashed walls, untreated wood, exposed brick flooring, glass panels with views of the sea, and surrounding nature entering almost without barriers.

Life here is slow: the house accommodates up to eight guests, and the kitchen and communal areas are oriented to make the most of views toward the waves, the coastline, and the rugged landscape.
