Killing Castro is a biographical drama premiered at TIFF 2025, focusing on Fidel Castro’s brief but eventful 1960 trip to New York City.
During the visit, Castro is hosted at Hotel Theresa in Harlem by invitation of Malcolm X, sparking political intrigue, surveillance, and assassination plots involving the CIA and the mafia.
Directed by Eif Rivera in his feature debut and written by Thomas DeGrezia, Leon Hendrix, and Colin Bateman, the film runs 113 minutes. The cast includes Diego Boneta as Castro, Al Pacino in a CIA role, and actors such as Xolo Maridueña, KiKi Layne, and Kendrick Sampson (as Malcolm X).
