The collaboration between Hot Wheels (by Mattel) and the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) is an innovative fusion of play, design and contemporary art.

Mattel selected two iconic automobiles of modernist design: the Jaguar E-Type Roadster and the Citroën DS 23 Sedan, and transformed them into collectible Hot Wheels models that pay tribute to their aesthetic and engineering innovation.

The fact that these cars are part of MoMA’s permanent collection underlines the significance of the collaboration: the DS 23 and the E-Type are among only nine automobiles with that distinction.

The capsule collection will launch on November 11 2025 via Mattel Creations, MoMA’s online store and at MoMA Design Stores in New York and Japan.

Through this collaboration, MoMA aims to bring art closer to a younger and broader audience, while Mattel gives its toys a new dimension – that of design and culture.
