Hotel Sacher is undoubtedly Vienna’s most iconic hotel and, at the same time, one of the most magnificent in the world, located in one of Europe’s most culturally significant cities. Within its walls lies Café Sacher, offering visitors the ideal setting of a traditional Viennese coffeehouse—accompanied, of course, by a slice of the Original Sacher-Torte. At any time of day, the Café provides a gastronomic and cosmopolitan refuge.
Looking back into history, Empress Sisi was not the only one to succumb to the chocolate temptation. Even then, the kitchen was producing and selling up to 400 cakes per day, shipping them to major European cities.
Vienna’s distinguished high society, along with the entire State Opera ensemble, used to dine at the hotel’s restaurant, “Eduard Sacher.” Artists, politicians, and the Austro-Hungarian aristocracy would frequently pass through the doors of Hotel Sacher. The carefully separated rooms ensured gatherings of absolute privacy.
“Was in Sacher geschieht, bleibt in Sacher”
(What happens at Sacher, stays at Sacher), as it was rumored at the time.
