American fashion designer Todd Snyder has teamed up with Balmoral Defender, a specialist in classic Land Rover Defender restorations, to unveil an extremely limited edition of the iconic British SUV called Edition One: City Black. This model is a luxurious reimagining of a 1998 Land Rover Defender 90, chosen for its preserved condition and suitability as a restoration platform.

The vehicle underwent a complete body-off rebuild to Balmoral’s exacting standards, with contributions from expert craftsmen in England, Spain, and the United States. The exterior is finished in an exclusive micro-metallic “City Black/Niagara Gray” paint, while the interior features soft Italian leather with bespoke quilting and premium detailing. In addition to aesthetic enhancements, the Edition One receives mechanical upgrades including a Chevy V8 engine mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission, upgraded brakes, suspension, and modern power steering, all while preserving the Defender’s original character.

Production is extremely limited: only 10 Edition One: City Black vehicles will be built to order, with pricing starting around $305,000. This collaboration marks a new direction for Snyder beyond fashion, blending heritage restoration, craftsmanship, and refined design into a vehicle that appeals to collectors and enthusiasts looking for something truly unique.
