The Cool & Vintage Defender 90 Soft Top represents a modern revival of one of the most iconic off-road vehicles ever built. Completely stripped down and rebuilt from the ground up, it blends heritage design with contemporary craftsmanship and engineering.

The Portuguese specialists at Cool & Vintage, led by Ricardo Pessoa, invest hundreds of hours into each project – around 1,000 hours for this model – using newly fabricated parts and significant mechanical upgrades. Each vehicle is essentially handcrafted, aiming to merge classic character with modern reliability.

Under the bonnet sits a refreshed 2.4-litre diesel engine, while the suspension has been reworked for improved performance. Inside, traditional Defender ruggedness gives way to leather upholstery, a redesigned dashboard, Apple CarPlay and air conditioning, creating a balance between vintage feel and modern comfort.

Despite the upgrades, the design remains faithful to the original 1948 Defender DNA, preserving its instantly recognisable silhouette. The result is a vehicle that sits between automotive engineering and collectible design – equally suited for display or real adventure.
