The new temporary exhibition From Monet to Warhol: Three Generations, One Collection presented at the Basil & Elise Goulandris Foundation in Athens from December 6, 2025, to April 11, 2026, offers a rare opportunity for Greek audiences to experience the evolution of modern art through a stunning panorama of 83 masterpieces from a distinguished private collection assembled over three generations of collectors.

The exhibition spans more than 130 years of artistic creation and over a dozen major artistic movements, beginning with the innovative compositions of Impressionism and extending to the bold motifs of Pop Art. It also highlights intermediate movements such as Post-Impressionism, Fauvism, Expressionism, Cubism, Abstraction, and Surrealism, through a carefully curated dialogue between works.

Unforgettable works by iconic figures such as Claude Monet, Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, Wassily Kandinsky, Marc Chagall, Roy Lichtenstein and of course Andy Warhol, along with other leading modern and contemporary artists, are featured in the exhibition. This artistic showcase allows visitors to understand how artists and different movements influenced and shaped the trajectory of painting from the late 19th century to the present day.

Beyond the visual experience, the exhibition is accompanied by an extensive trilingual catalogue with scholarly entries on each work, as well as educational activities, guided tours, and audio podcasts that offer deeper insights into the complexity of art.

Through this exhibition, the history of modern art is presented not merely as a chronological sequence but as a living dialogue among creators, ideas, and aesthetics that have shaped the way we see the world through painting.
