It made its first appearance in World War II (1941), replacing the classic wool coat worn by soldiers during World War I. The safari, or field jacket, took on its current form in 1965 following an agreement between the clothing company Alpha Industries and the US Army for the war in Vietnam, as its waterproof and soft fabric helped soldiers cope with the country’s climate. It quickly took on a symbolic and anti-war character and today it is a stylish item, in different versions, to fit into a man’s wardrobe.
Dedicated to motorcyclists is the Fuel Motorcycles version. Coated with an innovative technology developed exclusively for the company, the jacket is rugged, abrasion-resistant and also more comfortable and lighter than other similar protective jackets.
