On the east side of Lake Como, in the picturesque village of Blevio, is located villa Roccabruna, in which the composer Vincenzo Bellini wrote two of his most popular works: La Sonnambula and Norma. Once, it was the home of soprano Giuditta Pasta. Today, the luxurious 5-star Casta Diva Resort & Spa is at the heart of the village and the main attraction of it. Its name is originated from norma\u2019s most famous aria, Casta Diva. The villa was built in the 18th century, and later it was renovated by Pasta, between 1827 and 1829 by the architect Philip Ferranti.<\/p>\n

The house was a meeting place for artists, composers, and singers. A frequent visitor was Vincenzo Bellini, who was inspired by the lake landscape of Moltrasio and Blevio and brought to light Norma’s work, performed for the first time by Giuditta Pasta. That opera featured the Casta Diva aria, which became one of the most famous of the 19th century and remains well-known until today. In 1829 Gaetano Donizetti spent a month in the villa while composing the Anna Bolena opera. The Resort consists of 7 villas and 73 rooms, while it is surrounded by a park filled with exotic plants and lush vegetation, counting \u200b\u200b26 acres overall in the area.<\/p>\n
