A photographic treasure of the 20th century is unveiled in Venice, praising the priceless material of Cond\u00e9 Nast, after its partial acquisition by Fran\u00e7ois-Henri Pinault. The Frenchman bought a large piece of the publishing house’s vast archive, which is exhibited in a wonderful setting in Palazzo Grassi (Campo San Samuele 3231, San Marco). In fact, the CHRONORAMA exhibition, which opened on March 12 and will close in January 2024, has brought together more than 400 “pieces”, dating from 1910 to 1979, in order to revive the photographic aesthetic of a bygone era. Curated by Matthieu Humery, photography consultant at the Pinault Collection, the exhibition represents both the passage of time and the images that remain of it, bringing together works by 150 leading artists from around the globe, including Edward Steichen, Berenice Abbott, Cecil Beaton, Lee Miller, Andr\u00e9 Kert\u00e9sz, Horst P. Horst, Diane Arbus, Irving Penn and Helmut Newton. as well as illustrators such as Eduardo Benito, Helen Dryden and George Wolfe Plank. Portraits of famous actors and important personalities of the 20th century are interspersed with fashion photographs, photojournalism, architectural photographs, still lifes and documentary photographs.<\/p>\n
