For those making the jump from manual to electric, shopping for an e-bike can be daunting. As e-bikes grow in popularity, the process has come to look somewhat similar to buying a car \u2013 different models suit different lifestyles, whether pure speed is one\u2019s desire or if they may need to be able to bring a child (or a dog) on board their rides.<\/p>\n

With MOD BIKES, Dor Korngold envisioned a boutique e-bike producer that would create what he calls the \u201cSwiss Army knife\u201d of e-bikes. After a few years of operations in Austin-based the company has unveiled their most ambitious lineup to date.<\/p>\n

The collection officially launched at this year\u2019s SXSW as part of its Creative Industries Expo, which brings together cutting-edge inventions and tapped MOD BIKES for its work at the intersection of mobility and sustainability.<\/p>\n

Leading the lineup is the MOD Easy 3: To pair with a dual battery that empowers the Easy 3 to go up at 28 mph, the highest allowed by law, the model features hydraulic brakes for an easy stop, even at such a high speed.<\/p>\n

Thick all-terrain tires and dual suspension equip the Easy 3 to ride in the city streets and on the trails, making it an attractive option for those who need a model that\u2019s versatile across environments. It also packs headlights that can be turned on and off from the bike\u2019s digital display, an integrated handbrake that allows the bike to be parked even on an incline and a torque sensor, the latter of which will be familiar to those who have been behind the wheel of an electric car. The sensor has five riding modes, including Fit, Eco, Sport, Cargo and Turbo. Regardless of mode, a throttle revs the bike up from a standstill and can be used with or without the rider pedaling.<\/p>\n
