The explorers of the 1920s knew how to travel. They didn’t have satellite phones, GPS and 4×4 jeeps. They carried the bulkiest comforts of home, dined in Bacchic style, and enriched their days with adventure. The aura of that notion of travel is what the Zannier Hotels Sonop luxury tented camp in Namibia tries to revive, built on a mountaintop of giant boulders, among the sand dunes and open wilderness of the Namib Desert. The vintage-styled safari concept is effortlessly captured in the authentic 1920s British colonial-style tents, separate cocktail and cigar lounge, open-air cinema and gourmet restaurant. The 10 spacious tents are built on boulders, furnished with antiques, colorful carpets and precious wood, they capture the look and feel of another era. They feature panoramic views of eerie desert landscapes, while telescopes inside the tent invite you to stargaze.<\/p>\n
