French designer Pierre Yovanovitch has partnered with the legendary \u201cred bottoms\u201d purveyor (and his longtime friend) Christian Louboutin to create a series of open-edition chairs inspired by \u201chistorical muses, mythology and film.\u201d The line includes nine limited-edition creations modeled after Yovanovitch\u2019s Clam chair with Louboutin\u2019s famous red-soled heels as legs.<\/p>\n

Each work is galvanized by a specific character. \u201cDita,\u201d which features a statement-making burlesque costume with laser-engraved upholstery, was created after Louboutin\u2019s comrade Dita Von Teese.<\/p>\n

Down the line, \u201cNefertari\u201d is inspired by the ancient Queen Nefertari, the wife of Egyptian Pharaoh Ramses II, and \u201cZenobie\u201d cites the Empire of Syria\u2019s Queen Zenobia as the reference. Among several other models, the line also includes five \u201cSimply Nude\u201d chairs, toasting to Louboutin\u2019s celebrated Nudes footwear collection.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis collection is as much of an homage to French savoir-faire as it is to feminine beauty,\u201d Yovanovitch said in a statement.<\/p>\n

The collection will be on view at Pierre Yovanovitch Mobilier New York from May 3 to May 24, and it will be available for purchase on the designer\u2019s webstore.<\/p>\n
