“Do remember they can’t cancel the spring”<\/p>\n

In spring 2025, from April 9 to August 31, the Foundation invites David Hockney, one of the most influential artists of the 20th and 21st centuries, to occupy all of its exhibition spaces. This exceptional presentation of more than 400 works from 1955 to 2025 brings together, in addition to a major collection from the artist’s studio and his foundation, loans from international, institutional, and private collections.<\/p>\n

The exhibition will feature works created using a wide variety of techniques \u2013 oil and acrylic paintings, ink, pencil and charcoal drawings, as well as digital works (photographic, computer, iPhone and iPad drawings) and video installations.<\/p>\n

David Hockney was fully involved in the creation of this exhibition. After presenting the “legendary” works of his early years, he chose to open the exhibition with the last twenty-five years of his work, thus offering an immersion into his world, spanning seven decades of creation. He personally supervised the design of each sequence and each room, in an ongoing dialogue with his assistant Jonathan Wilkinson.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis exhibition is particularly important to me because it\u2019s the biggest I\u2019ve ever had\u2014all eleven galleries of the Fondation Louis Vuitton! Some of my very latest paintings, which I\u2019m currently working on, will be there. It\u2019s going to be good, I think\u201d, David Hockney said.<\/p>\n

The exhibition ” David Hockney 25 ” demonstrates how recent years have demonstrated the constant renewal of his subjects and modes of expression. The artist’s ability to constantly reinvent himself through new media is truly exceptional. Initially a draftsman, a master of all academic techniques, Hockney is also now a champion of new technologies.<\/p>\n
