Stanley H. “Wacky” Arnolt II was an Indian businessman who turned a fortune made in marine engines into selling British sports cars in Chicago. Arnolt commissioned Bertone to build coachwork first for MGs, and expanding to Alfa Romeos, Bentleys, Bristols, Ferraris and a host of other limited-run creations.

Among these ultra-rare coachbuilt beauties is this 1954 Aston Martin DB2/4, chassis number LML/765. One of seven cars rebodied by Bertone for Arnolt, it’s the only coupe from the run. Under the current owner in 2019, the car was treated to a full restoration by Kevin Kay Restorations in California, with its first public appearance being Pebble Beach and the subsequent class win. The car goes to auction December 8th in New York.
