Driving to San Francisco

On 12 September 1963, the first Porsche 911 was presented at the Frankfurt Motor Show and without anyone realising it, a legend of modern motoring was born. The 2-door coupe was designed by Ferdinand “Butzi” Porsche, grandson of the founder of the Ferdinand brand, and went into production in September 1964, with sales in the US starting in February 1965. Since then, all subsequent generations of the 911 that followed have retained the basic structural and design concept. The only major change was the replacement of the air-cooled engine with a water-cooled engine in 1997. In the process, the 911 maintained its timeless appeal and evolved into one of the most famous cars, with an extremely high prestige. As a result, the 911 is one of the longest-running models in the global automotive industry under the same model code and in continuous production from 1964 to the present day. The Porsche 911S pictured takes us back to images of California in the 1960s. This particular model became a classic, with its Bahama Yellow paint as its identifying mark.
