F1 Heroes

In a journey of 70 years with the most impressive images from the archives of the great champions who wrote the history of Formula 1 and the Grand Prix invites us to the book “F1 Heroes: Champions and Legends in the Photos of Motorsport Images” by Giorgio Terruzzi and by photographer Ercole Colombo. It follows the legendary history of this popular sport from the first championship, won by the daring Nino Farina in Alfa Romeo with his famous cigar between his lips, to the heroic exploits of British driver Lewis Hamilton. It also presents all the legends of Formula 1, among them Alberto Ascari, Juan Manuel Fangio, Niki Lauda, Ayrton Senna, Alain Prost, and Michael Schumacher.

With more than 200 images, this volume doesn’t overlook the incredible engineering feats that made the drivers’ stories possible: “F1 Heroes” also focuses on the history of Formula 1 cars, from the tube chassis ones that dominated the early races, such as those made by Alfa Romeo, Ferrari, and Maserati, to the modern high-tech cars running on the track today. An impressive account of the winners, their exceptional vehicles, and their duels, but also a story of great defeats and great heroes who, while not winning the championship, became legends, such as Gilles Villeneuve. Skira will publish the book.
