Tropical architecture

Overlooking the local rice fields and embracing the tropical tradition of Bali, Biombo Architects’ Cala Saona House is nestled along a sloping terrain. A house built not only for family accommodation but also for the entertainment of guests. Thus, the architectural studio that undertook the project found it necessary to create two volumes. A five-bedroom main house with private bathroom and a guest pavilion located lower down the slope. The most impressive space of Cala Saona is the living room, which rises to a height of 9 metres and hosts an indoor tropical garden. Surrounding this welcoming space are the kitchen and dining room in an open plan layout. Taking inspiration from the indoor and outdoor living required by the Bali weather, sliding glass doors connect owners to various outdoor spaces – terraces, balconies, gardens and a large swimming pool.
