Daniel Craig’s 1959 Land Rover Series II 109: A British Icon with a Hollywood History

A remarkable piece of British automotive history has captured the attention of collectors: a 1959 Land Rover Series II 109 formerly owned by Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz. The classic 4×4 combines the unmistakably rugged character of an early Land Rover with a Hollywood provenance that gives it an additional layer of appeal.

Its long 109-inch wheelbase, distinctive Bronze Green finish, canvas rear cover, and bonnet-mounted spare wheel preserve the unmistakable appearance of a genuine Land Rover from the era. A traditional rope winch mounted at the front further reinforces the utilitarian, off-road character that defined the original vehicles.

The Series II has been refurbished with respect for its original factory character while receiving a number of mechanical updates designed for more practical modern use. A RoverDrive overdrive system improves higher-speed cruising, while the 2.25-liter engine has recently received upgrades including a Carter carburetor and electronic ignition. Power is delivered through a four-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case.

The vehicle’s personal history makes it especially compelling. Its sale included a handwritten note from Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz, along with a signed portrait of Craig, confirming the couple’s former ownership. The Land Rover recently sold through Bring a Trailer for $56,000, adding another chapter to the story of a true British automotive icon.
