Beautiful women in lingerie, painted red lips and heels, provocative and current. Portraits of women “playing” with sexuality and femininity are the main subjects of the works of Los Angeles-based artist Maria Folger. She uses the photorealistic technique with acrylics and oil paint to create her portraits but sometimes juxtaposes these subjects with slices of pizza and pineapple, adding a humorous tone to some of her sensual works. Folger’s paintings radiate the ephemeral, the modern in an intense way. They give the impression of the superficial yet not naïve.
