Night train to nowhere…

of Apostolos Kotsambasis

You drive to the office. Cloudy Wednesday. At the traffic lights of Kifissia, you observe the passers-by. The radio ids on and the heard words strike emotion. A year ago, for 57, mostly young people, their journey through life came to an abrupt halt on a train outside of Tempi. Their  families were drawn into a maelstrom of pain and grief. Today the accident seems to mark a rift in time and resurfaces the facts of an uncomfortable reality. It comes as a painful reminder that it doesn’t go any further. Or maybe not? See what happens after the tragedy in Mati. We go on with our lives. But that doesn’t change the facts. The facts are stubborn and we will collide with them again in the future.
