Peson Namsen: A Modern Take on the Norwegian Rowboat

Norwegian boatbuilder Peson reimagines the traditional wooden rowboat with the Namsen, a lightweight vessel that combines timeless Scandinavian design with modern materials. Inspired by the classic riverboats of the Namdalen region, it retains the distinctive construction of a keel, ribs, and strakes while replacing timber with solid HDPE.

Measuring 4.7 metres in length and 1.32 metres in width, the Namsen accommodates two people and is designed for steady, effortless rowing across lakes, rivers, and coastal waters. Its durable hull does not absorb water and requires no traditional sanding, painting, or caulking, allowing it to remain outdoors throughout the season with minimal maintenance.

Available in rowing and fishing configurations, the boat can also accommodate an outboard motor of up to four horsepower. The Peson Namsen offers a contemporary interpretation of traditional boatbuilding, prioritising simplicity, durability, and the pleasure of being on the water.
