Τraditional aesthetic

Since its founding in 1954, the Merrimack Canoe Company has built on the philosophy of utilizing modern technology and traditional aesthetics in canoe building. Back in the 1950’s, Merrimack’s founder, L.H. Beach, saw the advantages of the then-new fiberglass hull construction that was beginning to gain widespread popularity in the canoeing world, but he didn’t want to lose the charm and character of traditional wooden ribbed and planked canoes. The reinforced wood and fiberglass canoe was born starting with the Osprey, a canoe that is still being produced today. Merrimack canoes are built one by one, each one made by hand with simple tools, and are numbered and signed by the craftsmen whose time, care and dedication have led to the creation of a canoe that is both impressive and practical, intended to be used by many generations. Whether you want to spend a misty morning on the lake fishing or undertake a multi-week expedition in the wilderness, then Merrimack models are guaranteed to meet every need.
