Zinc Mine Museum In Sauda

Zinc Mine Museum in the Sauda region of Norway is a place worth visiting to your next trip to the northern European country.

In a wild rocky landscape, the museum assimilates itself with the gray and wild environment that locates creating an almost frightening view.

The design of the building to have exactly that look was not accidental, since initially the place was a monument to the victims of the 1600 government and its witchcraft persecutions

Architect Peter Zumthor, with the help of artist Louise Bourgeois and historian Liv Helene Willumsen, creates a museum devoted to the miners who worked in the late 1800s. The interior presents the exhibits in a minimalist almost abstract way and fits perfectly into the aura of both the building and the region, traveling the visitor to the harsh past of Norway.
